Audrey Hepburn in pencil
~
~
This loneliness I feel
That somehow seems to steal
The beauty of the night
And all the stars of night,
Can’t put this sadness right
For Athena is dead
And she lies in her bed
For soon I will follow
For life seems so hollow
For there is nothing less
Than a poets death.
That somehow seems to steal
The beauty of the night
And all the stars of night,
Can’t put this sadness right
For Athena is dead
And she lies in her bed
For soon I will follow
For life seems so hollow
For there is nothing less
Than a poets death.

Another drawing of Audrey
~
those drawings are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou captured her soulfulness. Always she seemed alone and vulnerable; your poem also captures that feeling well!
ReplyDeleteI was absent for some time, a thousand reasons, is now here I am again. I hope that you are good - I wish you all the best

thank you for your comments... it's actually another of those mangrove species that can tolerate high salt concentration. i am not sure what particular species, since i was not able to stop and see it closely. maybe next time....
ReplyDeleteanother thing..."Why should I cry for you is a song by STING, which I happen to like...so all credits should go to the composers and the singers...
nice art pieces...
nice verse, Nick and the drawings r equally beauitfullll.. they compliment each other.. :-)
ReplyDeleteFor there is nothing less
ReplyDeleteThan a poets death.
this i guess sums up the melancholy of the poem.. truly amazing!! m loving it!!
Melancholy stands out equally well in both words and drawings. I really like that first drawing - she had such an expressive face.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully captured Nick.
wonderful
ReplyDeleteOh. AP, the first drawing of Audrey
ReplyDeleteis heartbreaking, arresting you've
captured her soul. I read she
experienced a hard childhood.
The poem a perfect companion.
Wonderful drawing... and sometimes we need to read sad words.
ReplyDeletebeautiful!! (also, I love the drawings)
