There is a lot to be said for watercolor as a painting medium. I tried it lots of times. I tried all different kinds of watercolor paper. From De Arches to Fabulous cotton but the results were always the same.
My biggest problem was that my favorite artists wouldn't give me a single lesson. Bob Brubaker (some people own his works) was big around here in the 1960s and early 1970s. and his watercolors were astounding.
They were realistic in details but impressionistic in everything else. The colors were muted but vivid and I would have paid any price for a couple of lessons.
You see, Bob and I competed at art shows all across this area and I won the Best of Shows and Blue Ribbons in Oil Painting and Bob won in Watercolors.
Which brings me back to your Blue Tit.
I looked at this in a kind of disbelief because I am seeing some of the techniques Bob used. And do I like it? Yes, I do. It is very nice work and I hope you ask enough money for it when you get around to selling it.
I'm no good at valuing paintings and masterpieces like yours mate, but i'm sure this one would fetch you a gr8 amount of recognition and money too. Wonderfully drawn, bro. Well done, :)
