You can trace the exchange of energy between photons and electrons back in time!
The electron releases energy forming an EM wave with the potential for a new photon of energy.
The electron got that energy by absorbing a photon of energy. You can trace this energy exchange backward through time as a continuous process between the electron spheres that surround the nucleus of atoms with the photons being the exchange mechanism.
If you can do this, then the process can be understood the other way around with light being a wave with photon or particle characteristic as the future unfolds.

Photon ∆E=hf energy is continuously transforming potential energy into the kinetic Eₖ=½mv² energy of matter, in the form of electrons. Kinetic energy is the energy of what is actually ‘happening’.

The spontaneous absorption and emission of light waves comes before any change in our ever change world that we try and measure as a period of time.

Within such a process the atoms of the periodic table are standing wave in space and time with the absorption and emission of light waves forming the passage of time.
We have a probabilistic uncertain future continuously coming into existence moment by moment, quantum by quantum.
All it would take for this process to be logical is a photon electron interaction between each cause and effect, between each action and reaction.
At the smallest scale of this process the Planck Constant h/2π is a constant of action with quantum wave particle function ψ² continuously collapsing and reforming as the future unfolds.
In this theory we have an objective collapse of the wave function with the mathematics of quantum mechanics representing the physics of time. The classical physics of Newton represents processes over a period of time as in his differential equations.

As part of a universal process of energy exchange, we can place each object or life form in the centre of their own temporal reference frame as an interactive part of this process.

Each life form is in ‘the moment of now’ interacting with the wave particle duality of light and matter in the form of electron forming a future relative to the energy and momentum of their actions.

It is because we are forming our own future relative our actions that we can look back in time in all directions at the beauty of the stars.
